One Last Convention Post

Today I will show you some of the fabulous cards I received in swap for the ones I made. First up, though is a picture of all the goodies I came home with that I received simply by attending Convention and second is my completed Make & Take...
Look at all my loot - You know you want to go with me next year!

The Stampin' Card Keeper included in the Make & Take will be available in the Holiday Mini Catalog. It comes with an easy-to-attach Silver metal label holder and six dividers for easy organization. A pattern for covering the box is also included. We covered our box lid with Timeless Portrait fabric and the dividers with matching designer series paper.

I love the detailed layers of the flower added to the top!

Here is the completed project - Card Keeper, 3 Cards & a Banner

I took almost 80 cards to swap and this is what I brought home.

Carol Steinrecher, MN

Lorri Heiling, AZ

Jane Flannigan, CO

Connie Collins, TN

Patricia Vigneau, NJ

Heidi Nebeker Bullock, UT

Tyla Darley, UT

I also participated in a Swap of 3-D items. The very cool thing about this swap is that I only had to make 1 sample for the coordinator and send a written tutorial to her. On opening day of Convention I traded my one sample for a CD containing 171 Tutorials from participating Demonstrators! Click on the "Tutorials" button at the top of my blog for your own copy of my Tealight Cake Set Tutorial.

More Convention Highlights

Where to start today? There were so many beautiful displays created mostly of paper & fabric to inspire us as well as row upon row of card displays. So many ideas, so little time...
Fun things to do with our punches

One of the Artisan Award Winners. I just love the detail on the white and blue, daddy kissing baby, frame

More punch ideas

Notice the paper flowers and grass. The butterflies are vinyl Decor Elements

Just a peek at one of the new Christmas Designer Series Paper packs available in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog

Walking into general session on Friday this lovely staff member (YOU Crew - random acts of kindness angel) asked Kathy and I if we already had seats. We thought we were in trouble for trying to get in the front section but she had something better in mind. We were given YOU Crew buttons to wear and she escorted us to reserved seats...
3rd row, center aisle! Best seats EVER!

All the extra surprises added so much to our Convention experience. You can join Stampin' Up! and go with me next year...

Convention Day 1

The official 1st day of convention started on Thursday morning with General Session. We were wowed with fun entertainment, Welcomed by CEO & Co-founder, Shelli Gardner, and inspired by beautiful center stage project ideas.
Look how close VIP seating got me to the stage!
The theme song was introduced
During the afternoon session the Holiday Mini Catalog was unveiled! I can't wait to show you some exciting new products in August! You will want the best score tool available, the new Sizzix Dies and folders, the new punches and coordinating stamps, gorgeous paper, and cookie stamps. Oh, My! There are so many new items!!!
Treat table inside the VIP lounge
A quiet place to rest, call home, and enjoy a glass of cold water or lemonade along with the treat table. I gained access to this oasis by recruiting a team member in April.
Some beautiful samples using the Flirtatious Suite
So cute!
The day also included a couple of business related break-out classes, shopping at Momento Mall,  and an evening celebrating the accomplishments of hundreds of successful demonstrators at the Awards Night and After Party.

WOW! Convention was Awesome!

I have so many photos and ideas to share that I will need to spread them out over the next few days. Makes sense, I think, because it took 4 full days for me to take it all in. My day started with a 6:00 am flight to Salt Lake City.
First stop on Wednesday, after checking into the hotel, was the convention center lobby to pick up my tote bag filled with four stamp sets, a catalog in a binder, program, pen, convention pin & a first year convention pin. Notice the key chain hanging on the zipper? So many nice extras!

Next up was a tour of the Riverton Home Office.
Assembling boxes
The pick line
These look good enough to eat!
So many lovely displays.
VIP's received this goodie bag on the tour. The bookmark is signed by CEO & Co-founder Shelli Gardner and the bag contains caramels and a full spool of Indigo Island Ruffled Ribbon.
As soon as I arrived back at the hotel it was time for the Inking Everything Team Meeting. Becky rented a conference room and spoiled us with yummy appetizers while we exchanged cards & gifts, got to know one another and talked business. There were other lovely ladies in attendance but this is our team picture. L to R - Julie, Becky, Kathy, Me, Kari, Ruthie, Jennifer & Kim. And after all this fun we walked over to the Conference Center for the Convention Kick-Off Party!

Roommate Gifts

It is tradition at Stampin' Up! Conventions to leave "pillow gifts" for your roommate(s). Here is what I have come up with...
Notepads to jot down all the great ideas we see

Tealight Cake just for fun

And who doesn't need a little chocolate?

I have written a tutorial for the Tealight Cake set and will post it on my sidebar as soon as I figure out that blogger feature :) The directions for the chocolate boxes is part of Becky Robert's 12 days of Christmas 2010 tutorial. Having access to her great tutorials is an added bonus of being part of her Inking Everything team - This month you can join me for just $99!

It's Party Time!

I had a 6:00 am flight this morning to Salt Lake City and headed straight for my hotel near the Convention Center. Today is arrival day but I have plenty planned. After meeting up with my roommates and going in search of the Stampin' Up! tote bags waiting for us (full of stamps, the Holiday Mini Catalog, and other goodies) I have a 1:00 pm VIP tour of the home office scheduled, followed by an Inking Everything team meeting at our hotel at 3:30 pm and the Convention Kick-off party at 6:00 pm. WOW! Below are the cards I made for our team swap and a small gift for each of the team members and special guests invited to our pre-party party.
Three of the In-Colors for 2011-2012 are Indigo Island, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder. I stamped the Flower Fancy images with Versa Mark and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder on the Glossy White paper before coloring with the Aqua Painter dipped in re-inker ink. I also got a chance to use the new 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon in Pool Party. Love it!
These are luggage tags I sewed & stamped to help us identify our Stampin' Up! tote bags in a sea of 3,000. First, I printed each initial on printer fabric using the Schoolbook Serif Alphabet in My Digital Studio. Yep, ran the prepared fabric (available at my local fabric store) right through my printer. I then sewed the tags together using the Flirtatious Designer Fabric and stamped them with Delicate Doilies stamps in Wisteria Wonder, Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink.

Last of my Swaps

Time is up and I am packing. These are the last two swap cards I have completed. I can't wait to see wait other Demonstrators have created to swap them for. There is a reason that the Idea Book & Catalog is named as it is. It is FULL of great ideas. Both of these cards are my version of samples in the IB&C.

The Sweets for the Sweet stamp set is featured on page 65 with a sample like this one. I used Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Real Red as my main colors. The lollipop has a layer of Crystal Effects to make it really pop and the tiny candies are punched from a page of the Big Top Birthday designer series paper using the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

On page 116 you will find the Flower Fancy stamp set and a sample card very similar to this one. Remember this flower from my post last week of all the watercolored flowers I was preparing? I love this stamp set and you can check back tomorrow to see the finished watercolor card. For this card I used Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral and Cherry Cobbler. The small flower is punched using the Boho Blossom punch and a silver brad is placed in the center. The sentiment is from the hostess set Swirls & Curls Verses set available in the Summer Mini Catalog through August 31, 2011.

More Cards to Swap

I have completed 20 of these beauties to swap at Convention next week. I am getting so excited to spend 4 days being inspired by Stampin' Up! staff and other demonstrators!
Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette are my color choices for these cards. I stamped the background with the new Delicate Doilies stamp set, inked the edges of the Fun Flowers cut out with the Big Shot and ran two of the layers through the Big Shot a second time in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, used the Scallop Edge Border punch along the bottom and stamped the sentiment with a stamp from the Thank You Kindly set. This card is finished off with the brand new Chocolate Chip Scallop Dots ribbon.
