Seriously, It's Paper Pumpkin Time

April is Paper Pumpkin month #2 for those of you who signed up before March 10th. This month we received our first kit with unknown contents and I must say I do like the printed card bases, coordinating designer series paper, heavy-weight stickers and embellishments that are included in the kits. The "Seriously" kit contains 3 stamps and a Cherry Cobbler ink spot.

This is the first card I made (following the directions)...
For card #2 I pulled out the Basic Gray ink spot from the Welcome Kit and used fewer elements...
As long as you have the Welcome Kit out, why not use the stamps too?...
Here, I cut the center out of one sticker and I think it looks like a paperclip...
If you would like to join in the fun of having a kit delivered to your door once a month head over to My Paper Pumpkin to sign up
If you subscribe by May 10th, you will receive the Welcome Kit in May and then the June Kit. Really, really wish you had signed up earlier and gotten the Seriously Kit? I happen to have an extra one so just give me a call!

It's New Catty and Retiring List Day!

Demonstrators are able to view the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog online today. But guess what? I have one in my hands! Those of us who were fortunate enough to have gotten to attend the Riverton, UT Regional event last Saturday received them at the end of a very special day. We also got to shop for our pre-order products and bring them home with us!!! It was the perfect ending to a fun-filled, inspirational day. Now, while I can't post the catalog here yet, I can show you a few of the products we used on our make & takes.
This card features 2 of the 8 stamps in the Remembering Your Birthday Set, fabulous Designer Series Paper Stacks, and... do you see it? I used a Deco Labels Collection Framelit embossed with the new Modern Mosaic folder.

Stars!!! There are 4 stamps in the Simply Stars set and the sentiment is another from the Remembering Your Birthday set. The ending to 'I remembered and thought...' is 'but then I forgot happy belated birthday'. I will make good use of that set!

Now, while I will be showing you more from the new catalog soon, you can't order from it until May 31st (unless you decide you like the perks of being a demonstrator and join me) so... in the meantime... here is the list of retiring items for you. Retiring stamp sets will be available to order through June 3rd BUT - this is important! - ALL other retiring items are available only while supplies last!!!

Couple of highlights in the retiring accessories list:
  • Scented Embossing Powders--40% off
  • All Fabric--40% off (entire line being discontinued)
  • Lots of Big Shot dies and several punches--25% off
  • Almost all the Designer Series Papers--25% off
  • All Simply Scrappin' Kits
  • All Color Refresh retiring colors and products
  • large selection of Big Shot accessories and folders retiring

Want to be able to pre-order from the new catalog and get sneak-peeks with me? Now is a great time to join the Stampin' Up! family. For just $99 you can choose ANY products you would like up to a $155 value (normally $125) and it all comes to you with FREE shipping! There are so many other benefits of being a demonstrator and absolutely NO pressure - you do as much or as little as you would like. There is a monthly quarterly minimum if you would like to continue but that is totally up to you. Let's talk! I would love to have you join my team.

You Rule!

Are you the Queen, King, Princess or Prince? Maybe you know one. The You Rule stamp set in the Spring Catalog is just right for the perfect card, picture frame or scrapbook page for the royalty in your life.

Stamp Set: You Rule
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Melon Mambo, Basic Black
Accessories: Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Big Shot, Honeycomb Embossing Folder

Here is one for the guys...
Stamp Set: You Rule, Beyond Plaid
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Designer Series Paper: Twitterpated
Accessories: Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Silver Mini Brads, Big Shot, Houndstooth Embossing Folder

After much testing the Basic Black Classic Ink is back in stock!
Some hints to get the best stamped image:
The new formula has a reduced dye concentration that will allow it to better absorb into the cardstock. Reducing the concentration didn't change the rich black color we all know and love; it only
affects how the cardstock takes the ink.
What about drying time? Because the ink absorbs better into the cardstock, it will dry in under a minute in some cases. It can take longer depending on the run of your cardstock and the age of your ink pad. If you are using an old ink pad, one of the refills with the improved formula will rejuvenate your pad. Also keep in mind that larger stamps or a more solid image may require a longer drying time.
What's the deal with Whisper White Cardstock? We have requested that our supplier provide us with cardstock within a tighter range of tolerance. Still, our tests proved that the new ink formula works better on most, not all, of our Whisper White Cardstock. The performance of the ink depends on the run of the cardstock. It is not possible to tell when a packet of Whisper White Cardstock was produced. If you are concerned with the quality of your cardstock, we recommend using StazOn ink, instead of Basic Black.
When can I get my hands on the improved Basic Black ink? The improved Basic Black ink pad and refill are currently being sold. Remember, depending on the Whisper White Cardstock you are using, you may still experience smearing and high drying times. We recommend that you use StazOn instead of the Basic Black Classic ink pad on Whisper White Cardstock.
We are pleased with these results so far. Not only has our Basic Black ink formula improved, but the testing process has also shown us how to make improvements to the quality of our Whisper White Cardstock. We will continue to see improvement in the future.

Are we saying goodbye to any of your favorite colors?

If we are, all cardstock, ink, re-inkers, buttons, ribbon and brads in retiring colors are available only while supplies last through May 31st. 8-1/2" x 11" Not Quite Navy and a few re-inkers have already sold out. Please don't delay your order if you want keep a stash of your favorites. Order here and don't forget to check out the Clearance Rack while you are shopping!

Happy Stamping!

My This and That Journal

I am now ready to start using my This & That Journal...
Or maybe now. I woke up this morning and added a few things. Better, don't you think?...

I used the jots & thoughts stamp from the Paper Pumpkin Try It Kit and the splatter stamp from the Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit.
To get the embossed Pool Party cover, I placed a piece of computer paper over the embossed chipboard cover and used my bone folder to trace the pattern. Next I removed the coil binding and applied Pool Party cardstock to the chipboard cover, placed the computer paper on top and transferred the pattern to the cardstock, going back over the lines after removing the computer paper. Easy Peasy!

This journal can be used to keep your favorite magazine clippings, or recipies, as a wedding planner or baby book, scripture or gratitude journal, birthday book, summer memory book... what will you use yours for?

Best of Butterflies

How appropriate that the April "Best of" Stamp Set is Best of Butterflies since that is exactly what I have to show you today! For the last couple of weeks those who have attended my private 'in-home' classes have made some beautiful cards using the Swallowtail Stamp. It is the VERY large butterfly stamp found in the Spring Catalog but it works wonderfully on cards...

Stamped in VersaMark and embossed with Black embossing powder. Color with a blender pen or sponge daubers with Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Island Indigo ink for the traditional Swallowtail colors.
Stamped 3 times in Midnight Muse, Layers are cut out by hand and adhered with dimensionals.
Can you see the layers?
Stamped with VersaMark again and heat embossed with White embossing powder. This one is very subtle.
Ahh. Wisteria Wonder Ink, Cardstock and Ruffled Ribbon make this a simple but elegant card.
I saw this technique on pinterest and just had to try it. We didn't do this in class since the drying time is overnight but I love it! The Swallowtail is stamped in Black Stazon Ink and a layer of Crystal Effects is applied. Simply stunning!

So, you want to see the April "Best of Stamp"? Here is Best of Butterflies, item #133473
