Magnolia Lane

Today is the day! After many weeks of sneak-peeks and waiting... the Stampin' Up! 2019-20 Annual Catalog is ready for YOU!

The Magnolia Lane Suite is one of the suites featured on the cover and I have been having so much fun with it! This large flower image is a dream to color with our Blends and last week we used the Triple-Layer Technique in class to create these cards. I just had to keep coloring and update my frame from a past Paper Pumpkin kit to display on my desk.

Family Celebration Board

I have been wanting to make a project like this for a long time. I worked with wood, vinyl, paint, and a drill to make a special birthday gift for my mom and I am so pleased with how it turned out!

The first thing I needed to do was get organized. That meant gathering the birthdates of newly added family members and making sure I had correct dates for anniversaries. My parents have 4 children (all married), 13 grandchildren (6 married), and 10 great-grandchildren. I was surprised to see that we celebrate the most birthdays in June!

Here is how I made our Family Celebrations board:

1. Paint board with aqua paint (I used acrylic from the craft store) to match the kitchen I envisioned this hanging in
2. Cut the words from adhesive vinyl with my electronic cutter
3. Carefully place the words on the painted board
4. Paint over the entire board with brown paint
5. Before the brown paint was completely dry I peeled the vinyl off
6. Paint discs for hanging
7. When dry ~ drill holes in discs and pre-drill holes in the board for eye hooks
8. Write names and dates on discs with a black fine-tip permanent marker
9. Assemble by screwing eye hooks below the month names and using jump rings between discs

My birthday, in June 😉 seems a long way off right now. We received our 2nd round of another 5-6 inches of snow yesterday on top of the 6-7 inches earlier in the week. This is not normal in Western Washington! The kids went to school only 2 days this week and they started 2 hours late on those days. We are expecting more snow this week so maybe we will have more days home together.
