I took a short break from stamping last week to make a special gift for a friend. A Pastor at our church has been working with children & youth for 20 years and is celebrating that milestone today. That's 20 years in Children's Ministry and Youth Ministry at.the.same.church! I think that is pretty remarkable and I have loved seeing him mature from an Intern with children's church to leading hundreds of children & youth in their walk with Jesus Christ.
He has a lovely family and his wife asked if someone could take the sweatshirts from nearly a decade of Youth Winter Retreats and make a quilt. I was happy to take this on and along with some blue jeans from his closet "clean out" I cut, ironed, snipped, sewed, layered, and completed a special keepsake full of memories.
In the earlier years of creating sweatshirts for the Winter Retreats Blaine was the Middle School Youth Pastor so there is one sweatshirt design for each of those years. In 2014 he became the Pastor for both Middle School & High School students so there are sweatshirts with the same design in different color schemes since then.
I consider it a privilege to have been able to sew this quilt and know that Blaine and Jen will keep plenty warm under it's HEAVY weight. (I overheard that the 1 & 3 year old boys will not be touching it for awhile) #keepitclean
