Women's Retreat 2013

I have just returned home from the most wonderful weekend Women's Retreat. Not only were we motivated and challenged to live a life worthy of our calling in Christ Jesus, I got to spend concentrated time with long-time girlfriends and new friends.

I am on the retreat planning team and once the theme, logo and colors are chosen I get to "work" designing the favors and gifts the attendees will receive throughout the weekend. This year, each of the 96 ladies were given a pen (not shown) on Friday evening. On Saturday morning the Elegant Eggplant favor box was at their place setting when they arrived for breakfast.
The little boxes were filled with candy and personalized so that once the candy was removed they could become a Hope Chest. We like to encourage one another with notes of encouragement (and some teasing) so there was also a box of Hope Notes at each table.

The bookmark I designed in My Digital Studio was our Saturday evening gift. I pulled words out of our key verse, Ephesians 1:18-20 to create the subway art style bookmark.

The final gift on Sunday morning was a devotional book so I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch on the white lunch bags and topped them with 1/2 of the Scallop Circle Bigz die decorated with 1/2 of a Tea Lace Paper Doily, Little Leaves Sizzlits, 1-1/4" and 7/8" Scallop Circle Punches, Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels and 5/8" Organza Ribbon. Our colors were Elegant Eggplant and Pear Pizzazz. But wait! The 5/8" Organza Ribbon only comes in Whisper White you say? Well, I can tell you that it dyes beautifully...
I placed an entire roll on some scrap paper, placed 18-20 drops of Elegant Eggplant re-inker into a Spritzer Bottle, filled it the rest of the way with 70% rubbing alcohol and spritzed away. It actually took 3 fillings to complete one spool of ribbon.

It dried quickly and although the color looks a little uneven in the picture the final pieces were beautiful.

As you can see, my job on the retreat planning team is prep work so at the actual event, while I am available to help as needed, I get to attend and enjoy all that we have planned. This weekend went so smoothly and was awesome all-around I can truthfully say I am ready to start planning for next year!

I love how the coordinated colors, stamps & punches and embellishments from Stampin' Up! make it so easy to create these added touches to our events! Thank you Stampin' Up!

I got the cute little favor box pattern from my fabulous upline Becky Roberts. Do you know what just one of the many perks of joining my team, Friends, Ink. is? You automatically also become a member of Becky's Inking Everything Team and have access to all of her tutorials!
